I am blatantly stealing , but only because I like it so much (and I don't think he'll mind). I'm going to try to discipline myself to post every Monday with a "life update" in the categories below. We'll see how it goes (you can always leave your thoughts in the comments).
Highlight of the week: I received an extremely nice card in the mail complimenting a sermon I gave and telling me how much the message impacted them. . Thank you, sender-of-the-card, for the encouragement and affirmation.
Book(s) I'm reading: by Dale Carnegie. I'm posting some good quotes on , if you'd like to follow along. Good stuff.
Music I'm digging: Chris Tomlin, (link opens in iTunes)
Something that blew my mind: The 2009 Ford Fiesta ECOnetic gets 65mpg, but .
Ministry update: CREW (junior high/confirmation) begins on Wednesday, and Eikon (high school) begins on Sunday. Both will be kick-off/game nights. Should be loads of fun!
Seminary/ordination update: Many of you are unaware that I'm applying to for admission in January 2009. Here's the deal: I'm applying to the with an emphasis in Youth and Family Ministry, and hopefully will be able to do the Distributed Learning program, which means I'd be taking classes online while still working full-time here at St. Mark. I only recently began the application process, and along with applying to seminary I have begun the ordination process in the ELCA, meaning that in a few years I'll be a fully ordained pastor. Yikes! I'll use The Monday brief to keep you up to date.
Looking forward to: Hopefully this week I'll be starting a weekly get-together with a couple of my really good guy friends. The plan is to hang out, have a few beers, and talk about a book that we're reading through together. First task: choose which book to read first. We're all supposed to come up with three fiction and three non-fiction suggestions and go from there.
That's it for the first Monday brief. Do you like it? Do you hate it? Do you have category suggestions? Let me know!

I like it! Luther Seminary is that up in St. Paul?
Shane: Yes sir!
I would suggest that the real important first decision of your “guy get-together” thing is to choose the beer and THEN the book. Just a thought. :)
Here’s to swiping ideas from Marko!
:)
I just posted my third week. Almost didn’t make it today. Good luck!
Steve: Don’t worry, it’ll probably be Boulevard Wheat.
Eli: Thanks man. I have no shame in swiping ideas from him :)
I like the format a lot. I’d steal it too… but if I took Marko’s thing he’d probably think I was butt kissing.
I like it!
Good to hear you’re enrolling at Luther. We’ll actually get to meet, eventually.
Adam: Ha! That’s what you get for working with the guy.
Noah: Good to see you back around these parts! It’s been a while…
Matt: Applying, yes. Enrolling? Let’s hope so. ;)
