When uploading to WordPress 2.5 RC1, I apparently erased all of my themes and plugins, which means I essentially have to start from scratch. It's my own fault, since I didn't back up the data beforehand, but damn this sucks.
The irony of this happening a mere hours after the previous post is overwhelming.
UPDATE 03/19/08, 3:17PM:
For those who missed it, for the previous fourteen hours or so my blog looked like this:

I managed to find the folder containing the theme I had been using from it's original upload back in October. I spent some time changing most of the things I have changed in the past 5 months, and now we're pretty much back to normal. I still have some things to fix, but at least I can breathe now.
The moral of the story: BACK UP YOUR STUFF.

Yikes! That has happened to me on more than one occasion. I assume you don’t have any of the previous CSS or anything?
Jake … this is so sad …
I found bits and pieces of the CSS… It’ll just take a while to get it back to normal.
Thanks, Sonja ;)
Dude, jakebouma.com 5.0 is AWESOME!!!!
you are certainly speedy. those were tense moments. time for a tea
Ryan: Thanks for the enthusiasm. I laughed out loud when I read your comment!
david: A tea sounds great!
hats off to you sir. quite a swift recovery.
Thanks, Blake.
Yes, very swift recovery. I’ve done it several times myself and I know well that tight feeling you get in your gut when you realize you just deleted your design.
i clicked on the link o’ irony and read about your 3-yr birthday, and how it seems you did the same thing (delete everything) around the 1.0/2.0 timeframe, no?
that’s why they call it “soft” ware…
at my first job out of georgia tech – working for motorola in 1984 – i wrote code for a seeker / missile graphics program, some software filters, and an FFT algorithm.
twice – TWICE – i managed to delete all my code, without backups, and had to write the thing from scratch.
so if you’re watching the news and an errant missile takes out some kurds or iowans, you’ll know why…
