Creative Worship Tour

Creative Worship Tour

Creative Worship Tour is a new social network from Augsburg Fortress (publishing company of the ELCA) which is “committed to providing an interactive space where churches are inspired and equipped to create innovative worship.”

“As part of our discovery process,” says Beth Lewis on the One Mission Blog,

“we are sending Augsburg Fortress video intern Josh Linman on a summer road tour of congregations in the Midwest. He’ll be visiting congregations of all sizes and a number of different denominations to find out what churches are already doing to create innovative worship and documenting each stop at the newly launched website.”

There are already lots of videos available (57 as of now) that address all sorts of issues: tips for video producers, tips for graphic designers, ideas for worship leading, and so on. For example, there’s a video called “Establishing the Felt Need and Worship Focus” which discusses how Ginghamsburg Church helps to focus all their creative elements around the central message of the weekend:

Of course, there are also message boards and all the other goodies that go along with a social network. Might be a good resource for you to check out if you’re involved in planning or leading worship in your church. It will be nice to have a glimpse into other Lutheran churches’ worship planning and leading and to interact with the people that are passionate about leading the church in song.

Moreover, it’s great to see the ELCA embrace social networking, and to use it as a way to positively influence the ways we (creatively) worship.
