So many books…

When I was younger, my mom bought a shirt at the Mall of America that says “So many books… so little time.” For her, it has always been true. In her room is a constantly rotating stack of books waiting to be read. I didn’t really start reading books until I got to college - thanks to Harry Potter - and now I have fallen victim to the same clever phrase.

See the original, full-sized photo here.

A couple of the books are ones that I am required to read for class but I would read on my own anyway, and the others are ones that I want to read soon. Click here for a bigger picture and details on all of the books listed. I am in the middle of reading “To Own a Dragon,” the third one from the top.

i was at the mall of america yesterday AND my half birthday is tomorrow.

great post, jake.

I still own that shirt, and I’m glad to know you now understand! :)

A funny thing happened to me when I was in college - I lost my desire to read. I was a voracious reader growing up, but something about having hundreds of pages of assigned reading did two things to me. It burned me out on reading in general because so much of it was so horrid. Secondly, I refrained from reading anything else, mostly because I knew I was so behind on the horrid required reading and felt too guilty to read for fun.

Took a few years to get geared up again. Having access to a solid public library has helped immensely.
